Objective: To increase community access to information, education, and technology resources through the advancement of technological skills, youth education and empowerment, and community networking in the Santa Cruz community.
The Community Technology and Resource Center (CTMRC) provides
for sustainable, reliable and positive use of information technology
by joining the youth education and development programs, community
alliances and strong family and social foundations.
Barrios Unidos has for 25 years been building the community
networks and social infrastructures needed to develop social ppportunities
and community empowerment. The CTMRC is continually building and combining
information technolgy and educational models to fit into this already
successful and well developed social infrastructure. A major component
to success of the CTMRC, as with most community technology projects,
is fitting into the community and social arena in a way that provides
relavence and acceptance of the IT solution. This provides a great
deal of project sustainability and increases overall effectiveness
of the program.
